Stephen Siller was one of those heroes. A New York City firefighter, Siller ran through the tunnel to the World Trade Center towers on Sept. 11, 2001, carrying nearly 75 pounds of gear on his back, to rescue his fellow New Yorkers. When the towers collapsed, Siller lost his life – leaving his wife, five children and siblings to carry on his memory and share his story. Since that day, through The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, his heroism has inspired countless Americans.

Every year, The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation holds the annual Tunnel to Towers run in which thousands retrace Siller s steps on that fateful day and raise funds for the Foundation s charitable efforts. This year, The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation is expanding its reach by helping America's military heroes. They are building custom “smart” homes for Brendan Marrocco, Todd Nicely and John Beck – the only three surviving quadruple amputees of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
